2025 PD Creativity Expo

2025 PD Creativity Expo
Sunday, June 15, 2025, 12-4pm

Parkinson Support and Wellness and Cincinnati Ballet are teaming up to celebrate the creativity of Persons with Parkinson’s! Cincinnati Ballet’s Margaret & Michael Valentine Center for Dance will host an afternoon of live performances, hands-on activities, and an art exhibit, —all from artists with Parkinson’s. Whether you are creative or just interested in connecting to the arts, this FREE event has something for everyone!

It seems that there is sometimes a surge in creativity that makes its mark in visual or performing arts, possibly related to dopaminergic medications (e.g. levodopa). We will have a display of art by visual artists in several media, including painting, fiber arts, and photography. We will also enjoy performances in dance, choral music and instrumental music as well as poetry. All these arts have been created by people with Parkinson’s.

We will also include some information both in the keynote speech by our guest speaker and dancer Pamela Quinn and in the Q & A panel. Quinn was a professional dancer for 20 years and was then diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She has continued to teach dance and movement and to help people with Parkinson’s to move better and feel better. She is well-known in PD circles and has presented at many national and international meetings, including several World Parkinson Congresses. The panel will include Quinn, Dr. Alberto Espay (UC Gardner Center), David Morse (Cincinnati Ballet), and Rod Stucky (a local person with Parkinson’s, and his wife Mary.

We encourage you to mark your calendars now; be sure to arrive early in the afternoon as the keynote speaker begins at 12:15 and the dance performance (by dancers from the local Dance for PD classes) is soon after that. The event is free and takes place at the Cincinnati Ballet at 1801 Gilbert Ave, Cincinnati, Oh.
