In the month of February, Parkinson Support and Wellness has our annual Basics of Parkinson’s Program. Following that program in March, we host Beyond the Basics to provide additional guidance.
Basics of Parkinson’s
Dr. Jack Shen from UC Health will be presenting the facts about Parkinson’s. This is perfect for those who are newly diagnosed or want to review the basics.
Jack Shen is a board-certified neurologist and Clinical Fellow in Movement Disorders at the University of Cincinnati. Before completing his neurology residency at UC, he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and Doctor of Medicine from Wake Forest University. His specialized training includes the diagnosis and management of complex movement disorders as well as advanced therapies, such as botulinum toxin injections and deep brain stimulation (DBS). In his free time, he enjoys photography, cooking, and exploring the city with his wife.
A panel discussion will occur after the presentation. People who have lived with PD will be sharing their experiences. There will be three panelists each with different stories to share.
Can’t make it on February 19th? You can watch 2021’s Basics of Parkinson’s here, and the discussion of our panel of PWPs from that year here.
Beyond the Basics
After Basics of Parkinson’s, many PWPs who are newly diagnosed still feel the need for more information and support. We offer a two-session group experience that features several veteran PWPs discussing what the recommended next steps are for someone newly diagnosed to live well with PD. This is offered virtually at 11am on Saturday, March 12 and 26.
