Well it is that time of year again! Parkinson Support & Wellness is excited to announce our annual 5k fundraiser is on October 1 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. The race starts at 10am this year, versus the usual 9am. We decided to push the start time back to allow our participants with Parkinson Disease some extra time in the morning to let their bodies warm up!
We expect that, despite the adjustment to start time, the day will look much the same as it has in previous years. When runners, walkers, and guests arrive October 1, they will enjoy the company of their relatives and friends, catch up with people they may not have seen in a while, and enjoy the beautiful Lindner Family Tennis Center.
It feels like a big party! We partner with a lot of in-kind donors, such as Gold Star Chili, LaRosa’s Pizza, Marx Hot Bagels, First Watch, Glier’s Goetta, Culligan Water, and even Granola Bars from Mt. Washington Care that allows us to treat our guests!
If you are coming to cheer someone on and enjoy the camaraderie of the day— like about half our 900+ attendees— there will be music and more than 50 raffle baskets to check out as you wait for your loved ones to cross the finish line. And at the end of the day, you might be taking one of those baskets home, if you’re lucky!
Our volunteers cheer on the runners and walkers throughout the course and at the finish line. After the race, we give out awards to teams with the most growth in members, most growth in fundraising, and the Team Spirit award! Overall, the day is for our community to come together and have a good time, as well as raise awareness and funds for our mission.
