New Exercise Guidelines for PWPs

The Parkinson's Foundation, a leader in driving better health outcomes and quality of life for people with Parkinson’s, along with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has created Exercise Guidelines for people with Parkinson’s.

These guidelines were developed and reviewed by a panel of exercise and Parkinson’s experts. They were built upon existing exercise guidelines, supplemented by physical therapy resources, PD-specific exercise research and expert opinions. The guidelines include recommended frequency, intensity, time, type, volume, and progression of exercises that are safe and effective for people with Parkinson’s across four domains: Aerobic Activity, Strength Training, Balance/Agility/Multi-tasking, and Balance.

Along with these guidelines, the Parkinson’s Foundation Exercise Accreditation Recognition distinguishes Parkinson’s-specific exercise education programs and courses that align and adhere to Criteria for Exercise Education Programs and Competency Framework for Exercise Professionals.

foreverfitness, located in Blue Ash, is excited to announce that two of the programs they offer— PWR! Moves, and Rock Steady Boxing— are Parkinson's Foundation accredited exercise programs! A third program through the Brain Grant Foundation is accredited for continuing education. foreverfitness is the only Parkinson's-specific exercise studio in the Cincinnati area certified in three of these accredited programs.

To celebrate Parkinson's Awareness Month, foreverfitness will be hosting a FREE PD-SPECIFIC EXERCISE CLASS virtually on Tuesday April 19th at 12:30pm.  You can access the class on Zoom here.
